The year 2001 has been a challenging one for our nation. The terrorist tragedies, as well as the economic downturn, certainly have had an impact on every facet of all of our lives. Miller Transporters supports our nation and its leadership's efforts in response to the attacks, as well as its efforts to return our economy to a stronger position.

In response to terrorist threats, we have increased our security and safety. From an economic perspective, we have made some difficult, but prudent, decisions to refine our company to move forward and continue in a tradition of safety, service and stability. We closed some terminals that no longer were economically viable, allowing us to intensify focus on serving our existing customers and cultivate growth opportunities in other areas. We currently are operating twenty-two terminals, and have started operations in Atlanta , Georgia and Charlotte , North Carolina , in the fourth quarter of this year. The explosive growth in our Third Party Logistics Division promises to be a continued high-growth area. We have utilized new and expanded technology opportunities internally, as well as making these available to our customers. More cost reduction and containment has been achieved through lowering overhead staffing, while being careful not to affect the final product, which is our safe and dependable service to you. Our commitment remains to provide you, our customer, with unsurpassed safe service.

We were recently awarded, for the 9 th consecutive year, Logistics Magazine's Readers' Choice Award in their annual "Quest for Quality" issue . We were also awarded the Merit Award for the National Tank Truck Carriers' safety contest, and the Honor Award for personal safety. This makes the eleventh consecutive year that we have placed in the top three carriers in our mileage category. Our pride in these awards is great as it exemplifies the foundational principles that we have operated under for the past sixty years.

We look forward to the year ahead as we continue to see our nation stand strong in pursuit of its longstanding traditions. In the same manner, we look forward to serving you - in our sixtieth year - by continuing to pursue our longstanding values.
