Naperville, IL - BP held there first annual BPSY (BP Supplier of the Year) Awards dinner on Wednesday April 14, 2004. The dinner recognizes the outstanding carriers in all modes supporting the distribution and delivery of BP products worldwide. Each carrier is evaluated on safety, operational performance, administrative support, and communication. Each of these categories is further defined for the liquid bulk carriers into the following sub-groups:
Safety
- DOT reportable accidents
- FMCSA Safer Rating
- Preincident Notification (PINS) Bonus category
Operational
- On time performance
- Equipment
Administrative Support
- Freight Invoice Accuracy
- Internal/External Customer Satisfaction
- Damage Claims
Communication
- Monthly Reports
- Problem Resolution
- Quarterly Meetings
At the end of the 2003 calendar year the monthly scorecard maintained by BP on each of the Scorecard participants was tabulated. To qualify for the highest level of recognition, the Gold level, a carrier must have a cumulative rating for all of the above noted categories between 98-100. The Silver award winner must achieve a 97-95 rating. Ratings between 94-89 results in a probationary period extending 30 - 60 days while carriers scoring 88 and below will have their partnerships with BP terminated. The liquid bulk carriers participating in this year's scorecard program included Dana, Quality, Roeder (pronounced "Raider" a small dedicated carrier handling the acrylo and aceto out of Lima, OH), Schneider, Superior, and of course Miller Transporters. Miller Transporters was the only Gold award winner with Schneider as the only Silver winner in the liquid bulk division. In order to achieve this distinction it required a superlative effort from the entire staff and management throughout the entire year and on an extremely consistent high level of performance. In addition it is fitting to take a moment and recognize the drivers, dispatchers, and the terminal manger of the Houston facility. The Houston terminal handles the vast majority of the freight that we transport for BP and we could not have come close to this award without their Herculean effort in all of the operational categories. Currently we handle the Aceto and Acrylonitrile shipping from Green Lake, TX to various points in the US on a dedicated fleet of tankers. Our cumulative score for 2003 was 98 and that was achieved without the benefit of any bonus points from the PINS program. This is a remarkable achievement by all that participated and especially notable performance by the personnel of the Houston terminal as noted above.
Let's keep up the great work and win another Gold BPSY in 2004. |
