From day one, Miller Transporters has been committed to providing a well-maintained fleet of equipment to our customers. Our definition of maintenance is two-fold: (1) preventative, pro-active measures to reduce equipment failures and the resulting down-time and (2) a commitment to performing cosmetic or non-essential repairs that have no bearing on the operation of the equipment. Minimizing down-time, whether on the road or in the shop, is one of the ways we achieve optimum equipment utilization. And the fact that our equipment looks as good as it performs makes our customers proud to have their product in a tank with a Miller logo.
Personnel at each of Miller Transporters' eleven maintenance facilities are trained to perform a wide variety of repairs and inspections on our tractors and trailers. Since each shop is registered with the DOT and holds its own CT number, Part 180 inspections (V,I,K, etc.) on Hazmat tank trailers can be added to the list of inspections that our inspectors and mechanics perform every day. Not only do we do more inspections than required, each inspection (whether required or not) goes above and beyond regulations. It's also our belief that most inspections should be scheduled on a mileage and time interval. The interval that is reached first decides when the inspection is performed.
The majority of vessel-related repairs on tank trailers are brought to our corporate, R-stamp facility, where the average welder/inspector has over 16 years of welding experience - at our company alone. All of our welders are ASME certified to the necessary weld procedures that allow us to perform welding repairs and modifications on ASME and/or DOT specification vessels. At certain terminal locations where a full-time shop may not be warranted, we will contract with outside repair facilities to perform inspections and repairs, to our standards. We only use outside shops with a good reputation in the industry, and even then, only after one of our corporate engineers have visited and approved. After approval, we work hard to establish a long-lasting partnership with that shop. We don't bounce around between shops providing the cheapest labor; we look for the best and stick with them.
