When it comes to safety, Miller Transporters is one of the best in the industry. In fact, our company receives national recognition annually for numerous safety and minimal personal injury achievements. Miller has won the top NTTC Safety Award in its mileage class 6 out of 10 years, and placed 2nd and 3rd the other four years Miller has reduced personal injuries to a level almost unheard of in our industry; thus making our workers compensation cost one of the lowest in our industry. At Miller Transporters, the safety of our employees and the general public has always been - and will continue to be - our number one priority.
Selection - Miller provides rigorous testing and screening of all drivers prior to hiring. In fact, Miller was one of the first carriers to implement a controlled substance testing program, which meets or exceeds all DOT requirements.
Training - Drivers go through a five-day comprehensive training school at our corporate offices prior to handling their first load. Miller has over 80 driver trainers, and also operates two mobile classroom units for training purposes. These are sometimes used by our customers for safety training at their locations.
Supervision - Terminal Managers at each Miller location provide strict, day-to-day driver supervision. Additionally, Miller routinely conducts road patrol and radar observations to assure that our units are being operated safely. Terminal safety contests are also held each year for safe driving and personal injury prevention.
Emergency Response - Miller has a detailed emergency response plan with eleven fully trained emergency response teams. These teams are on 24-hour call and are located throughout the Miller system. We also have three emergency response contractors on retainer at all times to assist when needed.
Miller Transporters has our own environmental management system, which insures our compliance with all federal, state and local regulations. The company is also active in the "Responsible Care" initiative, sponsored by the American Chemical Council. |
